Just realized I was stripping coax wrong for 8 months straight

Was out on a job last Tuesday at this old house in Oak Park and the customer had his own cable gear. He watched me strip a line and goes "uh you're cutting the braid man." I had been using the punch down method where you just slice around the jacket and pull. He showed me the compression strip tool with the rotating head and I swear it took 30 seconds off each termination after that. Any of you guys use the Klein version or just the cheap ones?

yeah man I spent like four months stripping coax with my teeth before someone told me I was just eating the cable for no reason lol. the klein is solid but honestly the cheap ones work fine if you're not twisting too hard.

The punch down method is where I started too and I messed up so many lines before someone corrected me. That braid is a pain when you nick it and then the signal gets all kinds of fuzzy. So with that compression tool you mentioned, does it work better on the thicker RG6 or does it handle the smaller stuff like RG59 without mangling the connector? I keep going back and forth on whether the Klein is worth the money or if the cheaper ones do the same thing long term.
