Learned the hard way about bone dust on my band saw yesterday
I was breaking down a side of beef at the shop and didn't clean the blade between cuts. Ended up with bone dust getting pushed into the meat on the next pass. Had to trim off a solid 2 pounds from a whole strip loin. Now I wipe the blade down with a damp towel after every bone-in cut. Anyone else deal with this or do you just run it through a cut of fat to clean it?

Wait, you had to trim TWO POUNDS off a strip loin? That's like $50 worth of good meat just gone because of some bone dust. I can't believe you didn't catch it until the next pass, I would've been sick watching all that go in the trash. I've definitely had bone dust sneak up on me before but never that bad, usually just a couple thin slices off the edge. For cleaning I just run a fat cut through or use a stiff brush, but a damp towel sounds way more thorough. Man, that's a rough way to learn a lesson, I'd be steaming about that for the rest of the week.
