Spent $18 on a used rice cooker at a garage sale in Fresno, it has run 6 days a week for a year
I grabbed it mostly as a joke since the lid latch was taped shut, but the tape has held and the thing has paid for itself about ten times over. I used to buy those microwave rice pouches at $2.50 a pop, sometimes two or three a week, which was quietly eating close to $30 a month. Now I buy a 10 pound bag for around $12 and it lasts me about six weeks. The funny part is my old roommate swore a cheap cooker would scorch the bottom, and I keep waiting for that to happen so I can send him a picture. What is the best dumb little thing you bought used that ended up being the hardest worker in your kitchen?
