Old house paint became my secret weapon for cheap canvas art

I've been getting into abstract painting but new tubes cost a fortune. So I dug out some leftover paint from when we redid the bedroom. It works great on small canvases and saved me about $60 last month. Has anyone else found weird stuff that works for their hobbies?

Wow, that's such a smart idea. House paint is so much thicker though, right? I'm really curious if you had to thin it down with anything to get it to move right on the canvas, or if you just lean into the super thick texture for big brush strokes. My old craft acrylics get weird and clumpy sometimes.
