A coworker's question about my grocery receipts changed how I meal plan

Last Thursday, my coworker Dana glanced at my weekly grocery haul and asked why I was buying three different kinds of cheese when I only cook for one. I laughed it off, but then I actually added up my food spending for last month, $412, and that hit different. Most of that was stuff I tossed out or forgot about in the fridge. I switched to a two-day meal list and a strict $60 weekly cap at the Kroger near my apartment in Austin. It's only been 10 days, but I've already cut my waste down to almost nothing. Has anyone else had a casual comment spark a total budgeting overhaul for their groceries?
