Warning: I was paying $18 a day for airport parking like a total sucker
So I fly out of Midway in Chicago about once a month for work, and for two whole years I just pulled into the main garage and swiped my card without thinking. That's $18 a day, sometimes four days a trip, so like $72 every single time. Last month my coworker Dana asked why I looked stressed about my 6am flight and I said the parking was gonna eat my whole per diem, and she just stared at me. She said she parks at the economy lot off Cicero and takes the free shuttle, pays $9 a day flat. I tried it on my trip to Denver two weeks ago and it took 12 extra minutes total. Twelve minutes! I did the math and I've basically lit around $1,700 on fire since 2022. Now I'm wondering what else I'm doing the lazy way, like do people actually book the budget rental car places off-site too? Anyone got a trick for the return shuttle situation, because mine dropped me at the wrong terminal and I almost missed my bag.
