Met a guy in Lisbon who showed me how to get a free city tour by just asking at the tourist info desk.
He said the official 'free' tours you book online often ask for a big tip, but the city hall actually runs a daily one that's truly free if you just walk up and ask for the schedule.

It's wild how many things have a hidden free version if you just know where to look. Makes you wonder what else we're overpaying for because we don't ask the right questions. The official paid option is always pushed harder, so the simpler free one gets buried. Kind of a life lesson in doing a bit more digging before you pull out your wallet.
