A hostel worker in Lisbon handed me a free tram pass and it ruined my whole plan to walk everywhere
I was three days into a trip where I swore I would only walk to save money, and by day three my feet were covered in blisters the size of quarters. The guy at the front desk laughed, pulled a spare Viva Viagem card out of a drawer, and said tourists always break around day three, which saved me about 40 euros and my sanity. Has anyone else had a local hand them something free that completely changed how they moved around a city?
