Update: my $12 slow cooker turned old chuck roast into something unreal
I usually avoid chuck roast because it's tough and takes forever. Last Sunday I had like 3 hours before dinner and figured why not try the cheap cut in my tiny slow cooker. Seasoned it with just salt, pepper, and a packet of onion soup mix, added half a cup of water. Set it on low and walked away. When I came back the whole house smelled amazing and the meat shredded with a fork like it was butter. My kids asked for seconds which never happens. I spent $12 total on a 2 pound roast and fed all four of us plus had leftovers for lunch today. Did I just get lucky with the cut or is this a normal thing? Anyone else have a go to cheap cut that turns out way better than expected?
