Ran the numbers on my grocery spending and hit $38 a week for my family of 4
I started tracking every receipt back in March because money was tight after my hours got cut at the warehouse, and last Friday I finally added it all up. Turns out we were eating on $38 a week for four people, mostly rice, beans, eggs, and whatever chicken was marked down at the Kroger on Hamilton Road. My wife thinks I'm crazy for keeping the spreadsheet, but I'm wondering if anyone else has actually tracked theirs and what number surprised you?
My buddy did the same thing and found out his "cheap" cereal habit was costing him $9 a week alone. The spreadsheet made him switch to store brand oats and he swears it tastes the same.
