Pro tip: stop throwing out your pickle juice

Honestly, I was just pouring it down the drain for years, but last month I used the leftover juice from a $2 jar of pickles to brine some cheap chicken thighs. Tbh, it made them way more tender and flavorful for almost no extra cost. Has anyone else tried using other leftover jar liquids for cooking?

My grandmother taught me to save the juice from pepperoncini jars. I mix a few tablespoons of it into potato salad or tuna salad instead of regular vinegar, and it adds a nice little kick. That leftover brine from olives or artichoke hearts works well for marinating pork chops too, just add some garlic and herbs. It feels good to get a second use out of something I used to just pour out.

Hey @jenniferb90, that's a solid tip. I read somewhere that those leftover brines are full of flavor from the spices and stuff that's already in there. Honestly, it just makes sense to use it instead of tossing it down the drain.
