My foreman in Tulsa said to soak my trowel in water before laying in 100 degree heat, and I told him he was nuts
I laughed at him for 3 weeks straight because I figured a wet trowel would just make a mess of the mortar, but he grew up laying block in Tulsa where it hits 105 by noon. Then last Tuesday my mortar started setting up before I could even tap the block level, and I finally tried dunking the trowel, and the board stayed workable for almost 20 extra minutes. Anybody else do this or is it just a hot weather thing?
