Rant: I blew $40 on a bread machine at a garage sale in Toledo and it made bricks
I grabbed a used bread machine at a garage sale in Toledo for $40 thinking it would save me time, but every loaf came out dense and gummy. The thing sat on my counter for two months and I baked maybe six loaves before giving up, so that worked out to almost $7 per bad loaf. The paddle always left a giant hole in the bottom and the crust was pale and sad no matter what setting I picked. I finally went back to mixing by hand in a bowl and my bread got better in like three tries. Now the machine is in my basement holding old towels. Did anyone else get suckered into one of these, or am I the only one who fell for it?
