Unpopular opinion: my pothos dying in December taught me more than any houseplant book
I got a pothos from my mom back in 2019 and it sat on the same shelf in my kitchen for almost five years without a problem. Around December of this year it started dropping leaves, and I mean a full third of them. Turns out I had moved it next to a cold window and cut back watering way too much (I was scared of root rot, go figure). I snipped the bare vines and stuck the cuttings in a glass of water on my sill, and now there are little white roots on eight of them. My mom never owned a book on houseplants, she just watched her mother do it in Cleveland, and I wish I had asked her more questions before she moved. Does anyone here still learn this stuff from an older relative, or is it all plant care apps now?
