I finally picked a cheap soil meter over the fancy one at the garden center

I was stuck choosing between a $8 three-in-one meter and a $40 digital one for my houseplants in Chicago last month. I went with the cheap one since I figured I could test it on my ficus before upgrading. Has anyone else found the budget meters are actually accurate enough for daily use?

...and honestly, I've been using the cheap three-in-one meters for years now and they work fine for my peace lilies and snake plants. The main thing I learned is you have to wipe the prongs clean between uses and stick them in at least halfway down the pot. Just don't expect it to be perfectly accurate for moisture, it's more of a guide than a precise tool.
