After 3 attempts, I'm done with synthetic thread for sewing signatures

I bought some nylon thread from a craft store in Portland thinking it would be stronger. But on my third try, it kept snapping while I was sewing, and I had to start over twice. Idk, maybe natural linen is just better for this. What do you guys use for heavy books?

Honestly I've had the total opposite experience. My linen thread kept fraying and breaking, but the nylon has been solid for me. Maybe you just got a bad spool or something?

My aunt tried to sew a canvas bag with that stuff once and gave up. She said it was like trying to sew with fishing line.
