That welding gas mix everyone swore by? I was dead wrong about it
Ran 75/25 argon/CO2 for years on structural work and thought the guys pushing 90/10 were just chasing hype. Blew out a seam on a 3/8 plate job last Tuesday and my foreman made me swap tanks on the spot, night and day difference on the penetration. Anyone else get humbled by a gas mix they ignored?

90/10 is basically cheating on thin stuff but runs colder on plate.

My buddy Pat tried a 90/10 mix on some thin copper once and cooked his whole batch dark brown instead of even. Did yours run way different temps than you expected on the plate?
