Supervisor called me out on my grinding technique last month

Honestly I thought I was doing fine with how I was dressing my welds. But this old boilermaker named Jerry pointed out I was grinding perpendicular to the weld instead of along it. He showed me how it leaves tiny stress risers that can crack later. Now I only grind in the weld direction and my work passes inspection way easier. Anybody else get called out on something basic they thought they had down?

Yeah Jerry's the kind of guy who just knows his stuff. Same thing happened to me but with a different trick - an old pipefitter showed me to run my grinder at a steady angle instead of just mashing it flat everywhere. Felt like a dummy for not knowing sooner but hey, at least now it looks clean.

Nah man @robert248, Jerry sounds like he's overcomplicating a simple weld.
