The game store in Austin has a loose copy of Cosmic Encounter on the shelf and nobody will touch it
I was at Dragon's Lair in Austin last Saturday and spotted a beat up copy of Cosmic Encounter sitting in the used section for $35. Every time I go in it's still there. The box is held together with tape and half the ships are missing, but the store won't budge on the price. Am I the only one who thinks a game that beat up should drop to like $15, or is that just how used game pricing works now?
A beat up board game with missing pieces going for $35 is basically the store saying they'd rather keep it forever than sell it. Half the fun of Cosmic Encounter is having enough ships for a full game, so that copy is pretty much useless unless you already own it. At this point I bet that box is just a permanent shelf decoration.
