Started tracking win rates in a little notebook after game night at my place in Austin went sideways 3 months back
Three months ago my crew got into a huge fight over who actually wins more in our weekly board game nights, and it almost ruined the group. So I grabbed a cheap spiral notebook and started writing down every single game result, who played, and who won, nothing fancy. After about 40 game nights I noticed something weird: I win 68 percent of games when I'm the one explaining the rules, but only 22 percent when someone else teaches. I always thought I was just better at heavy strategy games, but it turns out knowing the rules cold beforehand matters way more than the game itself. Now I volunteer to read rulebooks the night before, and my win rate has honestly jumped a ton. Anyone else ever track their group's stats like this, or am I just the weirdo with a notebook at the table?
Bought myself a dorky little notebook too after our Catan nights turned into full on yelling matches over sheep trades. Tracked about 25 nights and found out I win way more when I pick a faction I already know instead of trying some new shiny one every time. My friends now call me the stat guy and refuse to play with me unless I promise not to write anything down. Guess we're both weirdos with notebooks now.
