My old gaming group was all about shared snacks and loud debates

Now I see folks focused on perfect strategies and solo play. I guess I'm just curious when having fun got so serious.

My friend Liam brought his copy of Everdell to our game night but ended up playing it alone for an hour before anyone showed up. He was building this huge, quiet town on his board, totally focused on his own plan with the event cards. It looked peaceful, not lonely, like solving a puzzle just for the fun of it. I see your point about missing the group chaos, @anthonyh85, but for some folks that solo focus is its own kind of fun, a break from the noise. Liam said he got a different kind of satisfaction from pulling off a perfect game by himself.
