A guy at the Portland game cafe had a binder full of his own custom Catan tiles
I was there for a meetup last Tuesday and this guy, Mark, pulled out a three-ring binder with maybe 200 hand-painted hexes. He said he'd been making them for six years to fix the 'boring' original art. He had a whole system for matching the resource types to different painting styles. Has anyone else met someone who went that deep on modifying a single game?

That's some serious dedication to a board game!

Man, that's next level. I saw a guy at a con who rebuilt his entire Ticket to Ride board with wooden train pieces he carved himself. The tracks were little grooves in the map. When people get that into a game, you just gotta let them cook. Best thing you can do is ask them about their process. They've usually thought about every little detail for years. Makes for a wild game night.
