Gave up on dinner dates after 3 of them, and honestly a walk is better
I know everyone here swears the fancy dinner is the safe move for a first blind date, but I stopped doing it about a year ago after a $90 meal in Portland with a guy who checked his phone twice and left before dessert. Now I just suggest a walk around a park or the river path, something free that takes an hour. Last month a woman and I did the Riverfront loop in Boise and talked the whole time, no menu to hide behind and no waiter interrupting. We split a $4 coffee after and it felt way easier than any restaurant table. Has anyone else switched to low key walks, or is dinner still your go to?
