Was skeptical about using a coal forge instead of propane but now I get it

Been running a propane forge for about 3 years and thought coal was just messy old tech that didn't make sense anymore. A buddy at the local shop in Denver let me fire up his coal forge last weekend and the heat control once you figure out the fire management is actually way better for certain joins. Has anyone else switched back to coal and found it works better for specific projects or am I just late to the party?

Isn't it funny how sometimes the old ways just work better?

Hold on, is that really true though? I get what you're saying but a lot of "old ways" that people romanticize were actually a pain to deal with. Like having to manually tune a broken radio or write letters and wait a week for a reply. Sometimes the old way just means slower and more frustrating. The new stuff isn't always perfect but it's not all bad either. I think we just remember the good parts and forget the bad parts.
