Showerthought: a guy at the Rockford forge meet said my hammer blows were "all arm, no waist" and it fixed my scale loss
Was at a hammer-in in Rockford about 3 months ago and an older smith watched me work for maybe 5 minutes. He said my blows were all arm and no waist, so I was tired by noon and my scale was flaking twice as much as it should. I started turning my hip into every strike and letting the hammer fall instead of pushing it. Two weeks later I ran a 6 hour session on some 1084 and my arm felt fine the next day. Anyone got a drill that helps lock in that body mechanic, or did it just take reps for you?
