My brother said The Bear is a workplace drama, not a food show, and I can't stop thinking about it
My brother works the grill at a diner in Toledo, and two weeks ago he said the restaurant stuff on that show is just background noise for a family story. I pushed back hard because for me the kitchen scenes are the whole reason I keep hitting next episode. But he pointed out that the dishes barely matter, it's the fights and the grief and the yelling that pull you through. Now on my second watch I can't tell if he ruined it for me or made it better, so what do you all think? Is a food show still a food show when the food is basically a prop?
