Shoutout to the city for the 3 month fix on one blocked bike lane on my street
I reported a blocked bike lane on my ride home 3 months ago and it just got cleared last Friday. The lane on 5th Street had a dumpster sitting in it for 14 weeks, so I had to merge into traffic every single morning with cars doing 40 mph. I called 311 four times and each time they said it was a private property issue and nothing they could do. What finally worked was tagging the city bike coordinator in a photo on social media, and it was gone in 4 days after that. I know the popular take is that reporting stuff does nothing, but honestly the real problem is the process, not the people. It should not take 3 months and a public callout to move one dumpster. Has anyone in here actually gotten a fast fix through 311, or is social media the only thing that works?
