Found a secret cut-through at the Harrison St underpass that skips the whole mess
Every day I got stuck at the Harrison St underpass where the bike lane just vanishes into traffic and I'd wait through two light cycles just to merge. Last Tuesday I noticed a gap in the fence by the old warehouse and followed it, and it spits you out right past the on ramp onto quiet side streets. It cuts about 7 minutes off my ride home and I don't have to play chicken with trucks anymore. I'm a little worried it's not actually legal or someone's gonna chain the gate shut. Anyone else know this spot, or have a similar sketchy shortcut they swear by?
That gap by the old warehouse, is it on the north or south side of the underpass? I ride Harrison every day and I've never spotted it, but I'm usually booking it to beat the light so I prolly just missed it. How wide is the opening, like can you walk a bike through easy or is it a squeeze? Also curious if there's any "no trespassing" signs up on that fence or if it's just plain chain link.
