Can we talk about how the bike lane on Grand Ave used to actually be wide enough to pass someone?

I was riding home from work on Grand Ave last Tuesday around 6pm when a delivery van parked right in the lane with its hazards on, so I had to swing into traffic to get around it. Ten years ago that same stretch had a good 6 foot buffer and you could pass another rider without even thinking about it, but they repainted it last spring and now it's maybe 3 feet in spots. I ended up just waiting behind the van for two lights because a truck was riding my tail and I wasn't about to get flattened. After the third light I gave up, cut over to the sidewalk for half a block, and walked my bike past the whole mess like a kid. I sent a note to the city's 311 line with a photo and a timestamp, but I'm not holding my breath. Anyone know if there's a better route east out of downtown that doesn't put you in the door zone the whole way?
