Pro tip: don't trust the friendly guy at the rack who says your shower is "good enough"
Last Tuesday I was locking up outside my office in Denver and some guy in full kit started chatting with me. He asked where I showered after my ride and I said I just wipe down with baby wipes at my desk. He laughed and said that was "good enough" and that real commuters don't need to shower at all. I felt kind of proud for a second, then I got to my cubicle and my coworker quietly asked if I had biked in, which she already knew, because I apparently smelled like a gym bag left in a hot car. I sat there for 7 hours feeling gross and distracted, and the whole time I kept thinking about that guy. Here's the thing: some people just don't notice their own smell, so his advice was worth nothing to me. If your ride is over 4 miles or the temp is above 75, you probably need more than a wipe, even if someone at the rack tells you otherwise. So what do you all actually do on hot days without a gym nearby, cold rinse in the sink or just accept the sweat?
