That mechanic who told me to just use grease on pedal threads was spot on
I spent 2 years fighting pedals that would creak after a month. This old guy at the co-op in Portland told me to stop using anti-seize and just use regular grease. I thought he was crazy because I heard anti-seize was better for aluminum. Finally tried it last summer on a customer's bike and those pedals are still quiet 8 months later. Been doing it that way ever since and I've had zero comebacks on pedal jobs. Has anyone else found that simple grease outlasts the fancy stuff long term?

My buddy runs a shop in Denver and swore by anti-seize for years. He had this one customer, a dentist with a $5k road bike, kept coming back with creaky pedals every 3 months. He finally switched to just Park grease on a whim, that was like 2 years ago now and that dentist hasn't been back since.

Anti-seize can work fine there, it's just not meant for pedals since it's a lubricant that doesn't actually hold up to pedal forces like a good grease does. Your buddy's shop probably saved that dentist some headaches by switching.
