Finally stopped using a butterknife to set my tire beads after 8 years

I used to just use a big flathead screwdriver and a butterknife to pry stubborn tires onto rims. Scratched up a few rims and pinched a tube or two. Last month my shop buddy let me borrow his Kool Stop tire bead jack and holy cow it made a difference. That little plastic tool saved me like 10 minutes on a single Continental GP5000 install. Has anyone else had that moment where a cheap specific tool just changes your whole workflow?

Had a similar moment last year but with chain pliers. Spent years using needle nose pliers and swearing at my quick links. Finally bought a pair of Pedro's chain pliers after my thumb slipped and I punched myself in the face. Still use the butterknife for setting beads though. Funny how we stick with bad habits just because they're free.

That butterknife trick is too useful to give up though.
