Warning: spent $85 on clipper blade sharpening service that came back worse than before
I run a two chair shop in Akron and had 6 blades that were pulling bad. Found a mail in sharpening service online that charged $14 a blade plus shipping, so about $85 total. They came back in 10 days and 2 of them were worse, one actually had a nick in it. Called the guy and he said I must have dropped it, which I didn't. Ended up buying a $200 sharpener from my supply guy and doing them myself in 20 minutes each. If you're mailing blades out, test one first before sending your whole set. Anyone got a local guy in Ohio they actually trust for the hollow grind?
That nick thing hits home. I sent four kitchen knives to a guy on Etsy years back, $12 a pop, and one came back with a chip near the tip that was not there when I boxed it. He swore up and down it was shipping damage, so I ate it and now I only do local drop off where I can look the dude in the eye. For what it's worth, mail in sharpening is a gamble no matter how good the reviews look.
