Tried a new fade pattern after a rough afternoon, never going back

Had a client in Austin last Tuesday who wanted a skin fade but I kept messing up the blend line near his temple. I was 20 minutes in and it looked patchy, so I stopped and switched to a diagonal clipper pattern instead of my usual straight up motion. That fix saved the cut and he tipped me $15 extra. Anyone else had to ditch their usual method mid-cut to save a service?
