TIL a light mist before clipper work keeps static shock away

I always thought spraying water on dry hair before cutting was a gimmick. Last week a customer with super fine hair kept jumping from static, and my clippers were snagging. I tried a tiny mist from my spray bottle, just enough to dampen the top layer. The snagging stopped and the cut was way smoother. Has anyone else found this helpful for flyaway hair, or is it just my clipper blades getting dull?
