New guy at my shop on 5th cut a kid's ear and froze, do you step in or let him learn?
Kid was maybe 7, sitting in the chair at my shop on 5th Street, and Marcus nicked his ear with the trimmer. Blood, tears, mom standing up. Marcus just stood there holding the clippers. I took over, cleaned it up, gave the kid a lollipop, mom tipped me 5 bucks on the way out. Do you jump in mid-cut or let a new barber finish what he started, even when it's going bad?
Pulled a guy aside last year when he made a kid's neck bleed and just stood there staring at the mirror. I walked over calm, said "I got this one," took the clippers out of his hands, and finished the cut while the mom watched. After the kid left happy I pulled him in back and showed him how to keep the trimmer flat and how to talk to the kid so he relaxes. Letting a new guy freeze while a 7 year old is crying just makes everyone look bad, so step in, then teach after.
