My old Oster clippers finally gave out mid-cut in Tulsa

Been running the same pair since barber school in 2011, they just seized up on a #2 fade last Tuesday. Figured I'd get them serviced, but the motor shop in Tulsa said parts ain't made for that model anymore. Had to switch to a cordless I borrowed from the shop down the street, took me an extra 20 minutes to finish the cut. Anyone else had to retire a trusted tool after a decade, how do you break in a new one without slowing down?

Went through the same thing with my Wahl when the cord finally gave out after nine years. Took me a solid week of cuts to get my hand used to the weight difference and the new grip. What helped me was running the new one on empty for a few minutes every night, just holding it and practicing my wrist movements while watching TV. Also kept the old one on the counter for another month as a backup, even though it was dead, just so I had something familiar to grab if I got frustrated. The first few fades felt clunky but by the end of the second week I was back to my normal pace.
