The old timer at the feed store in Modesto told me my coop venting was all wrong
I had the vents up high near the roofline because that's just how I'd always seen it done. He took one look at my setup and said "heat and wet air rise, but your birds live down low, so quit choking them." I cut two low vents near the floor on the shaded side, about 12 inches off the bedding, and the smell and dampness in there dropped within a few days. My hens stopped huddling in the corner on warm nights too. Anybody else run low vents instead of the high ones, or am I late to this?
