My automatic coop door failed to open at sunrise this morning, what's a good backup plan?

Used to just trust my timer door until it stuck closed one freezing morning. Now I keep a cheap battery powered backup opener on the same rail, set to the same schedule. If the main one fails, the backup still runs. It cost maybe forty bucks and saved my flock.

Wait, wouldn't the backup door just get stuck too if the rail itself is frozen? Good idea from @bell.eric but maybe check the rail first.
