Update: I keep seeing people skip the High Sierra Trail's Bearpaw Meadow cutoff
It adds a solid 4 miles and 800 feet of climbing if you miss the turn just past Hamilton Lake... I did it myself last August and it wrecked my pace for the day. The trail sign is small and faces the wrong way, so you really have to look for it. Anyone else have a spot on a big route where the turn is easy to miss?

Nah, that turn is pretty clear if you're paying attention. I've done the High Sierra Trail twice and saw the sign both times. Honestly, a lot of people just get in a zone and stop looking at their surroundings. The real tricky spot is later on, near the junction with the Lone Pine Creek trail. That sign is totally faded and half-buried in brush.

Oh man, that's the classic hiker move right there. Blame the trail instead of admitting you were daydreaming about pizza for three miles. I mean, I've totally done it too, but it's always funny when someone insists a sign is invisible just because they missed it. Maybe we all need to look up from our feet once in a while.
