Just realized the AT in Virginia is all false summits and I'm done pretending otherwise
I mean, I hiked 40 miles around Grayson Highlands last month and every single climb was a lie. That section made me trust nothing on my topo map anymore, so now I plan by water sources instead of elevation lines. Anyone else switch up their route planning after one rough stretch?

Trust your gut on this one. Water beats elevation every time when the map keeps lying to you. Topos are just suggestions anyway.
