Last Tuesday a dead pitot heat on a King Air had me swapping the element at 2am in Tulsa, and because I trusted the collar instead of buzzing the lead to ground first, I ate a 6 inch arc that welded my wrench to the wing and cost the shop 4 hours of paperwork.
