My car hauler broker vanished the day before pickup in Tucson, so here's how I got my money back
Booked a transport for my Civic from Tucson to Denver back in March and paid a $250 deposit through Zelle like the guy asked. Day before the pickup window he stopped answering calls and his 'dispatch office' number just rang out for 2 days. Turns out he was a broker who subbed the job out and never paid the actual carrier, so no truck ever showed. I filed a chargeback with my bank, reported him to the FMCSA hotline, and put the whole thing in writing with screenshots of every text. Got my $250 back after 3 weeks, but the lesson was real, never pay a deposit by Zelle or Venmo, use a card so you can dispute it. Anyone else deal with a broker that ghosted after the deposit?
