My brother in law said paying for enclosed transport is a waste, and I almost believed him until last month
My brother in law ships cars for a living out of Phoenix and he always says enclosed transport is just dealers trying to squeeze extra cash out of nervous people. Two years ago I went with open transport on a 68 Chevelle from Tucson to Spokane and it showed up with three rock chips and a cracked mirror that nobody would claim. Last month he called me after a guy he knows had a 69 Camaro get pelted with hail on an open trailer outside Amarillo, about $8,400 in damage that the carrier fought for weeks. He said the enclosed quote would have run maybe $1,100 more and he would have taken it in a second. That hit me different because I always figured the price gap was pure markup, not real paint protection. Now I'm quoting enclosed on anything with decent paint and honestly the math feels obvious. Anyone here actually had a carrier pay out for open transport damage without a fight, or is that just wishful thinking on my part?
