Rant: pinched a fresh base coat line at 2pm on a Friday and had to blend the whole door
So last Friday I was spraying a silver base coat on a Camry door at my shop in Fresno, and everything was going smooth until my air hose caught the edge of the fender and dragged the gun right through a wet pass. Left a fat dark stripe straight across the middle of the panel, and of course the booth was booked solid for the next job at 3. I stood there for a second just staring at it, then wiped the whole thing down with reducer and re-shot the base from scratch instead of trying to spot it in. Silver is a nightmare to blend, so I figured one more full coat was safer than chasing a shadow. Took me an extra 40 minutes and about a quarter pint of material, but the door matched under the lights with no halo. Wound up finishing at 5:15 instead of 4:30, and the customer never knew. Lesson was really just that I need to route my hose over the roof instead of letting it hang low near the panel. Anyone got a hose holder setup they actually like, or do you just live with it and keep a hand on the line?
