The week my basement flooded changed my whole view on sump pumps

Last month after 3 straight days of rain, I woke up to 2 inches of water in my finished basement off Piedmont Road. Had to rip out carpet and baseboards, cost me $800 just in repairs. Has anyone else dealt with a sudden flood like that and found a good backup pump system?

Did you ever think a sump pump was one of those things you kinda roll your eyes at? Honestly I used to think they were kinda pointless until I had the same thing happen to me. Tbh it totally changed my mind after seeing all that water.

Isn't it funny how we don't appreciate the boring stuff until it breaks? I mean, it's like with my old dishwasher - I never even thought about it until it flooded my kitchen floor. Now I'm paranoid about everything in my basement.
