That Perseid meteor shower photo that ate up 6 hours of my Saturday

I wanted to get a nice stacked shot of the Perseids last month. Set up my camera on a tripod in the backyard around 10 PM. But I kept getting these weird star trails even with a 15-second exposure. Tried changing the shutter speed, ISO, everything. After at least 4 hours of frustration I realized my intervalometer had a loose battery contact. That little thing cost me a SOLID night of shooting. Has anyone else had a tiny gear problem wreck a whole session like that?

Gear always betrays you RIGHT when you actually need it, classic universe timing.

My boots picked the end of a 12 mile hike to finally blow a hole in the sole. Guess they figured I'd had it too easy up to that point.
