A heads up about the new moon this weekend for anyone trying to shoot the Milky Way

I drove out to Joshua Tree last Friday night, thinking the sky would be perfect. The moon was new, so there was zero light pollution from it. I set up my camera and took a 30-second exposure, and the core was so bright and clear it looked fake. I've never seen that much detail in my shots before. Has anyone else planned a trip around the new moon phase and been blown away by the results?

Oh wow, I totally thought that too! But I saw this chart that showed the dates and it changed my mind lol. Guess I had my weeks mixed up.
