My trowel snapped during a dig in Tucson and I had to improvise with a paint scraper for a whole afternoon.

Remember my buddy using a credit card to dig out a cactus spine. It worked about as well as you'd expect, and he spent the rest of the day picking plastic shards out of the dirt. Sometimes you just have to make do with what's in your truck.

Makes me think of the time I watched a guy try to pry open a paint can with a butter knife in a hardware store parking lot. The knife didn't make it either.
