I thought the 'lost city' in the Honduran jungle was just a story for years
Then they found those stone statues and a plaza layout that matched old accounts almost exactly. The lidar scans showing clear man-made shapes under the canopy were what really changed my mind. Anyone else have a find they doubted until the tech caught up?

Yeah, it's wild how much we still don't know. I get that same feeling when my GPS updates and suddenly shows a whole neighborhood that wasn't on the map before. Makes you wonder what else is right under our noses, just waiting for the right tool to come along and point it out. We're so sure we've got everything figured out, but then the ground shifts or a new scanner proves us wrong.

Honestly, @anna_grant, I get what you mean but GPS updates are a bit different. They're just adding data we already knew was there from new construction or better satellite pictures. The real mind-blower is when we find stuff we had zero clue existed, like a whole new type of bacteria or a hidden chamber in a pyramid. Makes you realize our tools are still pretty basic for how big the world is. We're not just filling in blanks, we're still finding out there are whole pages missing from the book.
